France proposes terms for a formal alliance with Denmark-Norway and its joining said war in order to protect the sovereignty and tranquility of the Danish Sound.

(OoC: I guess that alliance between Sweden and the Anglo-Dutch escalated quickly ...)

OoC: I thought the unfortunate instance of the *Anglo-Dutch attack* on the Sound had been cleared up in the peace with Sweden as an unfortunate Fog of War incident?
Also, is Denmark the aggressor, it was the Anglo-Dutch who attacked the Danish fleet?

OOC: yeah Denmark did not attack. Recognised sovereign territory (naval waters) in these times was 3 miles (maximum range of land guns). The sound being less than this means this was an attack by the Anglo-Dutch.

OoC: Looked like wanton and reckless aggression on the part of the Anglo-Dutch from where I was sitting. How would they have reacted had the Danish sent a fleet up the Thames Estuary?

The English tried to leave, Denmark wouldn't let them. As far as William is concerned, this is an attack on England and the two nations are at war.

Oct 6, 2016 9:13:14 GMT 1 Bill said: "Fuck it!" Cornelius shouts, "i want to see how the Danish swim."
Cornelius will engage the Danes with full force and with extreme prejudice, no time for mercy.
In "What? Again!"/Baltic. Date is clearly after what William has posted up there.

The Kingdom of Denmark-Norway wishes to engage (the above message implying either the acceptance of engagement or the passing up of the opportunity and the deliberate abandonment of the 'Peace of the Sound' policy - theleviathan.freeforums.net/thread/2/denmark-norway). It will engage the passing English fleet under the plans The Viceroy has been made aware of. Bill provided a link to this message: No belligerant actions will come from the Dutch and English forces. Over facebook (which is why I generally prefer these things to go through the forum) Dan made it clear to both myself and Alex in separate message threads that he intended to engage despite the English desire to withdraw.

OoC: So what you're saying is that it's fine to breech other nations' sovereignty as long as you withdraw quickly at the onset of armed protest? What kind of a precedent does that set? Denmark-Norway was right to defend the Sound. For too long have the Anglo-Dutch flouted the sovereignty of other nations.
