A letter is received by the Prince's Council of Bavaria, sent by the French embassy, requesting clarification on the Bavarian position on the contested electoral seat of the Palatinate of the Rhine.

Maximilian II Emmanuel, Elector of Bavaria, announces that he feels deeply uncomfortable deciding between his two cousins Elizabeth and Sofia. His reply in constructed with an air of neutrality, suggesting that Sofia is allowed to accede to the throne under German law but Elizabeth Charlotte would be the better candidate if the Emperor encourages a change in that law. Ultimately, he submits to the decision of the Emperor.
He wishes the French King the best in all his endeavours, great and small.
