The armies of the Ottoman Padishah arrive at the coronation city of the Kingdom of Hungary, Pressburg (or Bratislava). Here, at St Martin's Cathedral, a solemn ritual is performed. With both Greek Orthodox and Hungarian clergy, the coronation of Prince Rakoczy of Transylvania is solemnly conducted. The Sultan and Grand Vezir wait outside the Cathedral, as the ceremony itself is reserved only to those of the Catholic faith.
After being crowned with the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen, and anointed with holy oil, Prince Rakoczy emerges from the Cathedral of St Martin as King Francis I of Hungary, and Prince Francis II of Transylvania. He is to rule over all the territories of Transylvania and Hungary proper, including Slovakia, with the recognition and protection of the Ottoman Padishah. Hungary is to be a vassal of the Ottoman Empire, but in the hereditary possession of the Rakoczy dynasty. King Francis is to have full powers to make laws and govern the internal affairs of his country. The banished rebel nobles are invited to return to Hungary and to retake possession of their lands. No Hungarian will be alienated from their rights or property. The only condition placed upon Hungary is that they share the friends and enemies of the Sultan, and that they guarantee economic and religious freedom for all monotheistic faiths.
Furthermore, King Francis is granted honorific title in the Ottoman Empire, as a Pasha of Three Tails, the equal of the Grand Vezir. This means that during war King Francis is formally permitted to carry three horse-tail banners with his retinue, and that he has direct and immediate access to the Sultan. King Francis is only a request away from a personal meeting with the Sultan, and the Sultan for his part is keen to always offer the Hungarian Kral his ear.
Long live the King!
