The existence of Europe is a threat!
His Imperial Majesty appeals to the Catholic sovereigns of Italy for support against the invasion of the barbarous Ottoman hordes. Leopold I, in this time of crisis, asks that the Italian sovereigns put aside their dynastic rivalries and tensions with each other, and with Austria, and realise that this invasion represents not just an attempt by the Ottomans to destroy the Habsburg Monarchy, or to subject sizeable swathes of European civilisation to Ottoman rule. Instead, he insists it is an invasion led in the name of a false God with the objective of undermining the power and prestige of Christendom here in the centre of the world. Since the year 1526, Austria, in the name of the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire, has acted as the barrier against barbarism,
forever preventing the relentless attempts by those heathens from the south in their drive to reduce Central Europe to mere provinces of a Godless islamic empire
Leopold I asks, not as the Imperial Emperor, not as the Archduke of Austria, but as a fellow servant of our almighty Christian Lord, that the Catholic states of Italy follow the Pope's lead and support His Majesty in this struggle for the protection and preservation of European Christendom, either through financial contributions or the provision of military personnel and commanders
