On a warm morning in Moscow the Patriarch of the Russian Empire addresses a crowd of angry Russians, noble and serf alike.
"My Children, a great evil has befallen the Orthodox world. The evil Mohammedan scourge is once more tearing at our holy lands. The armies of the devil are at the gates of Chrisendom! Our brave Tsar leads gods armies against the Ottomans, he who brought us victory against the Swedish must now lead us in an even greater struggle! But the Tsar cannot win this great war alone, no! The Church must help him win, the peoples of his mighty and blessed Empire must raise in support of the glorious monarch. As Patriarch of the Russian Empire I am declaring крестовый поход! We must now go on our own crusade, the first ever undertaken in the Orthodox faith! Let us crush the Muslim invader and set free the good Orthodox peoples of the Balkans! On my children, on to Constantinople!"
After a few second of stunned silence the crowd bursts in applause and celebration so loud that the Patriarch was overcome with emotion. Men gathered their possessions and headed to mustering grounds, carrying crosses and emblems of their faith with them.
