Summary: [Strikethrough = Dead]Osmanli Dynasty: Sultan Mehmed 'the Hunter' Prince Süleyman Köprülü Faction:Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Pasha Abaza Siyavuş Pasha Janissaries:Bekri Mustafa Pasha Vezirs:Grand Vezir Sarı Süleyman Pasha Ayaşlı Ismail Pasha Bozoklu Mustafa Pasha - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - IV. Mehmed'Avcı Mehmed' Name: Mehmed 'The Hunter' Osmanli Reign: 1648- Born: Topkapı Palace, Constantinople, 1642 Died: Currently living Father: Sultan Ibrahim 'the Mad' Mother: Turhan Hatice Sultan (formerly regent for Mehmed) Religion: Sunni Islam (Head of Religion) Physical Appearance: Bulky but strong. His rich diet and hunting exploits have combined to create a man both vast and fit. The brian blessed of Ottoman Sultans, Mehmed cuts an impressive figure. Mehmed still possesses a scar from his infancy, received when his mad father threw him into a cistern during an argument with the Sultana. History: Mehmed the Hunter has always relied on able ministers to govern on his behalf. Coming to the throne at the age of six his mother, as Valide Sultan, governed on his behalf. As he grew older the nice but unambitious Sultan relied on the appointment of able Grand Vezirs. Under his rule the Ottoman Empire has been greatly revived in power and confidence, with able ministers of the Albanian Köprülü family recapturing territories shed from the empire and defeating the Poles and Transylvanians. The stewardship of Kara Mustafa has been less able, and short lived, following a disastrous intervention in Austrian politics culminating in a failed siege of Vienna. The year 1685 sees Mehmed receiving pessimistic reports from the front of the continued war, and the desperate need for a wise counsellor, a wartime consigliere, to recover the situation enough to gain an honorable peace. Tughra of IV. Mehmed.

He has pale skin and a well-groomed rounded beard. History: Süleyman has spend his life as a pampered political prisoner, a generous alternative to the traditional dynastic control-method of strangling siblings with a bow-string. Süleyman is of a sensitive and nervous disposition and fears that his brother may have him killed if the Austrian War turns even sourer and people start calling for a new Sultan.

Sarı Süleyman Pasha Grand Vezir.
Name: Süleyman Nickname: Sarı (Blond) Office: Grand Vezir (1685-)
Born: Bosnia, date unknown. Died: Currently living
Origin: Bosnian Religion: Sunni Islam
Physical Appearance: Sarı Süleyman Pasha is looking increasingly drained by the stress of trying to turn around a failed campaign. Pale and fair, hence his nickname, Süleyman is looking increasingly pallid.
History: Süleyman has been a loyal servant and an advisor to the Sublime Porte all his life, and of course had been touched by the spark of ambition in that time. He never believed that when his turn came to carry the Imperial Seal and manage the empire, he would be spending more time as a general than an administrator. In the middle of Hungary, Süleyman's role as commander in chief has put him under much pressure, especially since his predecessor had been executed for his failures in Vienna. Süleyman knows well that the price of the great discretionary power granted to him by the Sultan is that his mistakes were his alone; the Sultan could wash his hands of any failure in the blood of Süleyman. This left Süleyman with the stark reality that there would only be two ways to return to the capital: at the head of a triumphal procession, or shrouded in his coffin.

Ayaşlı Ismail Pasha Nişancı (calligrapher) to the Sublime Porte.
Name: Ismail Kemalettin Nickname: Ayaşlı (of Ayaş) Offices: Nişancı (1678-)
Born: Ayaş, near Ankara, 1620. Died: Currently living
Origin: Turkish Religion: Sunni Islam
Physical Appearance: A small old man, with leathery skin and snow-white hair and large moustache. A lifelong bureaucrat, he even looked the part.
History: Ismail Pasha has been a bureaucrat all his life, and has mastered a fine hand at calligraphy. He served a term as the governor of Rumelia, and after a brief retirement has returned to serve in the position of Nişancı, or court calligrapher. This role has traditionally involved a role similar to a Foreign Secretary, but this role is now mostly filled by the chief of the clerks. Ismail is still sometimes called upon, due to his honoured position and loyal service record, to represent the Sultan during foreign embassies, carrying his seal for the signing of treaties.
In our history, Ismail Pasha is universally recorded as being mild mannered, which must be true as it was not really considered an obvious virtue at the time. He was dutiful to the last, despite being accused of embezzlement.

Bekri Mustafa Pasha Yeniçeri ağası (commander of the Janissaries).
Name: Bekri Mustafa Nickname: Tekirdağlı (of Tekirdağ) Offices: Yeniçeri ağası (1679-)
Born: Tekirdağ, Thrace.
Died: Currently living
Origin: Unknown, Devşirme System Religion: Sunni Islam
Physical Appearance: A middle-aged career soldier. He is physically fit, with dark greying hair, and a clean-shaven face.
History: Bekri Mustafa is a loyal, if demanding, servant to the Sultan in the finest traditions of the Janissaries. Spartan in his tastes, rigorous with discipline but a great believer in the ability of financial incentives to make soldiers fight harder. Bekri Mustafa is a hard but simple man who has spent his life as a soldier and, technically, a slave. Beyond his martial prowess, he was of course well educated by the palace school at Galata, capable of administrative and clerical tasks as well as the military leadership that was his true calling. Bekri Mustafa is a friend of Sarı Süleyman Pasha, and is supprting the Grand Vezir to the best of his abilities. Bekri Mustafa is himself a Vezir on the State Divan and fears that his presence in Hungary would make him a prime candidate for the Grand Vezirship. Bekri, however, knows in his heart that although he is a capable military commander, his true political calling is as an effective number two, not as the head of the entire state. He was born to serve the empire, not run it.

After the disgrace and execution of Kara Mustafa after the failed siege of Vienna, Mustafa the Wise has been forced to leave Istanbul in an honorable administrative exile. Despite rising fast and high through the council of state, his connection to Kara Mustafa will make his return difficult any time soon.

Born: Bozok/Yozgat, Turkey, 1638. Died: Currently living

After the peace of Kamieniec and the clear escalation of the situation in the Caucasus, Bozoklu Mustafa was called in and appointed as the military governor of Imereti. In the absence of the Grand Vezir for the Ossetian Conference, Bozoklu Mustafa is to be the supreme commander of the Yellow Army. If the peace conference goes well, he will be incharge of incorporating the province peacefully, but if it fails Mustafa knows he will be required to take swift action to defend the province from the Russians.
