Diplomatic avenues are still open for walking along. The Elector should be aware that if he moves against the offer with an act of high measure, he will by his own hand be rejecting not the Emperor's offer of peace and it associated opportunities, but that of the Empire; Imperial law is clear
Signed, The Austrian Ambassador.

As Louis Henri the Duke of Bourbon read the letter handed to him by Maximilian II Emanuel before a fire at the elector's hunting lodge at Fürstenried, the duke mused that it was exactly this degree of presumption and high-handed hubris that had alienated from Leopold I otherwise loyal friends. He returned to Maximilian the letter before declaring a toast to the health and friendship of the houses Bourbon and Wittelsbach.
He smiled idly while allowing his future vision of Europe to percolate his mind's eye while savouring the sweet aroma of the cognac held in his gloved hand.
