5,000 Azabs from the Army of Anatolia arrive to occupy the recently purchased province. They arrive at the port city of Split, with the 5,000 ducats agreed as the price, and await the ceremonial handing over of the keys to the city. The Azabs will be put to work as a local garrison and militia, to ensure the smooth transition of the province without any lawlessness or civil disorder.
The 5,000 Azabs are to form the Garrison of Split.

Don Homer watched the arriving Azabs march through the city gates. He squared his shoulders. An old lady, a market trader, presented him with an apple, which he received, and endowed her with his blessing.
"Siiii," he thought, "the times are changing."
A day passed, and in the morning, he dressed in his ceremonial robes. He took breakfast, some smoked fish, and a cup of wine. The apple he received from the old lady, he brushed on his vestments, and ate. Soon, he received the military governor of Split, and handed over the keys to the garrison. He boarded a Galleas. That afternoon, the only trace of Don Homer in Split was an apple core, and a large amount of burning scrolls.
