In immediate response to the occupation of St. Luis the Duc de Villaroi marches his army to the North in order to repel the Dutch invaders before their toehold can be strengthened and their gains consolidated upon.

The Army of the North arrives before the Orange Army are able to fully sally out of the town, those who had managed to leave hurried back into safety. The French force has succeeded in locking William's force down, however news quickly reaches Villaroi that the Duke of Marlborough, who was intended to join with the Force in St Luis, is rushing to the aid of his sovereign.

The Army of Holland will make the crossing to terneuzen from zeeland, landing in the north and march south to Ghent.
Marlbourogh will cross the scheldt from antwerp and travel west at all speed.
