After a lengthy absence, Charles has made a surprise return to the Northern theatre. One day, he thought to himself, I shall find a suitable biographer and tell the tale of my exile.

The Imperial Army under the Command of Peter the Great marches to the aid of Russia's allies. The Russian army moves to Szczecin where the Tsar will ascertain the whereabouts of his enemy. No Swedish army shall be allowed to march into Poland or Russia, lest they be clad in chains.

OoC:
Where was my army when news of the landing reached me? Thanks

OoC: It would likely have been on the march between Stralsund and Bad Oldesloe, closer to the enemy than safety. But it will take around a week for Charles to rendezvous with Dahlbergh, so you have plenty of time to retreat if that's what you wish.

Actually, I'm trying to gauge if I can hit Charles before Rehnskiold could arrive to support... Let me do some map reading. Where did Charles land?

On the West coast, so Dahlbergh is between your two armies.

Damn and blast it. August has no choice but to withdraw again... There will not be another.
August sends a request to his new ally, the Elector of Hanover, to bring his force to Stralsund, were the combined allied armies, of Saxony, Poland, Russia, and Hanover will finally deal the blow against Sweden.

OoC: I don't believe Hanover joined the war?
Charles and Dahlberg seem intent on pursuing the Saxe-Polish force. By the time they get to Straslund, the Russians who were previously loitering in Minsk had already arrived. Pyotr's force, however, is a long way out.

OoC: It was one of the stipulations of the agreement
"In recognition of this, the Elector of Saxony request support from Hanover in the war with Sweden (the liberation being in no way guaranteed without it) in the form of support for the current Holstein campaign..."
Also, what are the fortifications of Stralsund/Stettin like?

OoC: Ah, I did not realise that was part of the final agreement, in which case neither did George Louis. I shall have to revisit this issue.

With regard to the fortifications at Stralsund, this is an earlier map but still pretty impressive.

August sends riders ahead to determine the supplies of the city, how long the defenders could last without resupply...

The defenders respond, without supply the town would last around three months. Smuggling, limiting rations and other measures may extend this. Also, it would defend on how effective the Swedish force were at destroying the fortifications.

August, frantically looking for any upside, attempts to work out how long it would take for the Army of Poland to reach Stralsund, as well as how long the Tsar's march will take...
