After a long winter of preparation the Royal Army under the Tsars personal command has left its winter camps and mustering fields. It marches with speed towards Warsaw, intending to relieve the coming siege and unite Russian and Polish arms.
The following forces set forth. They march in regular order until reaching the border, at which point they March in battle order and maintain several picket lines.
7,000 Irregulars 21,000 Preobrazhensky lifeguards 10,000 Line Infantry 3,000 Engineers 1,000 Militia Cavalry 1,000 Hussars 200 Field Guns 50 Howitzers
The main body of the army is formed by the Life Guards and line infantry who march with the artillery, engineers and Hussars.
The irregulars act as scouts and light infantry, foraging what they can and requisitioning what they cannot. The militia cavalry are used as a ranging picket for the army, scouting important towns and roads and ensuring no force is allowed to sneak up on the army.
Due to the Winter conditions the army carries all the rations it expects to use on a the march plus a contingency. This necessarily slows things down a little. The troops are also now accustomed to marching with the thick coats, mittens and winter boots needed to beat back the vicious cold.
