They came in the night, their horses as black as the smoke emerging from the burning land. The Hetman is dragged out of his palace, into the town square. He is forced up the scaffold, and duly hanged for his crimes against the Cossacks. His family, suffer similar fates, being cut down by angry warriors, hanged, or immolated.
The Cossacks were not estranged from this level of violence, in fact it could be said they thrived on it.
The leader (although not undsputed) is Kondraty Bulavin, who was involved in the 1670 rising as a minor officer. He is also a veteran of the Turkic wars, and is great opponent to the peace agreed between Poland and the Ottomans, never mind the resulting alliance.
Army of Bulavin:
4,000 Cossacks 1,000 dragoons 4,000 Line Infantry 1,000 grenadiers 50 field guns
