OOC: The Admins are fully briefed on the river raid and my plans, plus the Crimean forces are taken from figures given by The Admiral in PMs.
The Balkan and Kirim Ordusu, under the command of Bekri Mustafa Pasha, leave their garrison post of Azov and follow the course of the Don river, occupying territory as they go, towards Sarkel, the ancient fort-town of the Khazars, a Turkic people that ruled these lands long before their fall to the cruel and corrupt Rus. They follow in the path of a surprise raid up the Don, by twelve (12) Ottoman galleys, destroying Russian trade along the river and clearing it for Ottoman use. The fleet blockades the river just short of the town of Sarkel, where it is joined by the Balkan and Kirim Armies.
The armies employ Crimean Tatar dragoons as a scouting and screening force to heavily study the path of the armies as they advance and to keep a look out for Russian movements.
The two armies begin their siege of Sarkel, demanding that the dilapidated and undefended town surrender peacefully, with its fortifications in tact. If they refuse to surrender, the two armies will immediately begin bombardment of the town until a sufficient breach opens to allow for the storming of the town. The population will be massacred or enslaved to punish them for their defiance. If they accept, a peaceful occupation will begin and the town is to be heavily refortified to defend the river. The river Don is to be used as a supply route from the Black Sea up to Sarkel, which will provide an adequate source of supplies for an army in devastated country, and a good base for the planned siege of Tsaritsyn. Once Sarkel is taken, the Balkan Ordusu are to use it for a base, refortifying it and protecting control of the river. Bekri Mustafa will be in charge of the occupied territories and river supply route.
