Posture of the Army of the Ukraine

The Army of the Ukraine is to be removed from the field and will take up positions within several cities considered vital to the defence of the Ukraine. The army will hold the following fortresses in the case of invasion, waiting for reinforcements from other fronts.

The soldiers will also be put to work improving the fortifications of their garrison, digging large ditches, reinforcing weak walls, storing supplies and strengthening artillery positions.

Fortresses to be occupied by the army:

Kiev:
4 Regiments of Irregulars
1 Regiment of Line Infantry
20 Field Guns

Poltava:
2 Regiments of Irregulars
1 Regiment of Line Infantry
10 Field Guns

Cherkasy:
2 Regiments of Irregulars
1 Regiment of Line Infantry
10 Field Guns

Kharkiv:
2 Regiments of Irregulars
1 Regiment of Line Infantry
10 Field Guns

500 men of the 4th Regiment Ukrainian Line Infantry will be reinforced by another 500 men in order to bring them up to full strength. They will then be deployed to Poltava.

1,000 militia cavalry
will rotate deployments, ensuring that order is maintained in the province. In the event of invasion they will act as couriers between the various Fortresses and will raise levies from the local population.
