Since Pondicherry is in the East of India and the French must pass the Dutch Colony of Celyon, the Dutch Fleet from Ceylon hope to catch the retreating Frenchmen cutting off their line of movement and buying time for the fleet in Mallaca to catch up and aid the capture or destruction of the French-Indian fleet.

The French fleet try to slip past Ceylon and the Comorin Cape, the Dutch however see it coming and give chase. The French frigates start firing rapidly, darting in between eachother in order to fire from both sides of the hull. In this incredible show of daring from the French captains, one of the Dutch frigates suffers severe damage and is forced to return to port for repairs. Despite the French naval skill on show, one of their frigates ends up getting caught in fire from a Dutch seafort off the Northern tip of Ceylon, one French frigate loses its sails and the crew are forced to surrender the ship. The rest head Southwest towards to Cape of Good Hope, celebrating a minor victory.
OOC: Bill is right, but as he would need to change direction the French fleet manages to get by with minimal losses.
