To Our Beloved Brother of the Book, James, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople,
As supreme Patriarch of the Orthodox faith, we trust you have observed with a keen eye the expansion of Ottoman justice over a great many of your flock in the Caucasus. We fear, however, that the great independence from political interference that you now enjoy, a greater freedom for your Church than under your own Christian emperors, is not enjoyed by all subservient Patriarchs. Indeed, some barbarian patriarchs see themselves, housed in the desolate wastes of hyperborea, as superior to you due to your residence in Constantinople. The sheer oddity of believing that residing in the city of the Christian emperors, natural home of the Orthodox faith and he grandest, most beautiful city in the world could possibly degrade the influence of your rightly guiding hand over your flock is laughable.
This aforementioned Patriarch, being corrupt and the thrall of a foreign ruler, is a wolf masquerading as a shephard. We therefore suggest that you spare no effort in attempting to curb his influence in the newly occupied territories of Imereti. The unholy man who competes for influence over your flock is our political opponent, and your spiritual opponent, and therefore there may be some financial compensation available should you be particularly effective in establishing yourself as the spiritual leader of the Orthodox people, at the expense of Tsar and the wolf patriarch.
Should you find this task too much, or should you be too focused on your own internal power struggles, would be happy to establish a free autocephalous Georgian Patriarch to perform these duties instead. I am sure you would prefer to maintain your monopoly position in the Christian market of lost souls.
His Lordship,
Sarı Süleyman Pasha
Grand Vezir of the Ottoman Empire
