Pyotr played with a small pair of rather vicious looking pliers, they were gleaming and perfectly polished. In front of him was Galitzinee. A ghost of his former self, after weeks of torture he and many of the Miloslavsky leaders were broken men. Pyotr put down the pliers and picked up a small knife, he slowly dragged the blade across Galitizinee's chest, sprinkling salt into the wound and the treacherous Prince dutifully screamed in agony.
The initial pleasure of torturing the wretch had lost its edge in the past week. Many of the Miloslavsky's just could not scream and beg like they had initially done. Pyotr put the knife down and leaned in towards the groaning wretch.
"I think I am quite done with you now. Tomorrow you and your friends will be free." Pyotr grinned as the prisoner suddenly looked up and started crying. Pyotr walked off, it was about time for supper.
The next morning in Red Square, under heavy guard and in front of the citizens of Moscow, the leaders of the Miloslavsky rebellion and Prince Galitizinee are all executed, some are whipped to death, some beheaded and others hung. The heads are all placed around Red Square as a reminder to any sympathizers that Pyotr's power is absolute. Minor members of the rebellion are branded and many young Miloslavsky's are exiled. Their properties and wealth (after Pyotr takes a modest share) are given to loyal Officers and members of the Naryshkin family.
A sum of 5,000 Ducats is given to the surviving men of the Army of Moscow as reward for their valiant service. The Cossack regiments are granted battle honours and land, as well as being given the title of 'Cossacks of the Preobrazhensky lifegaurds' giving them elite status among the regiments of cavalry.
