Charles XI smiled...
The attack on the Hansa would put an end to any HRE threat on the Baltic... The losses to the Swedish fleet had been large, but with no viable means of response, the Emperor could do little whilst the Swedish navy controlled the Baltic.
The fleet had limped back to Karlskrona to undergo repairs, fresh sailors would be trained, and the Swedish fleet would be the strongest on the Baltic.
Count Erik Linskjold took the floor: " We announce, to combat the losses to the Crown's fleet, appropriations of Hanseatic League Headquarters, guild houses, warehouses, merchant ships and their wares, are now to be undertaken in all of the following cities and towns: Dorpat
Reval
Riga
Malmo
Falsterbo
This appropriation should go some way to rebuilding our fleet, ensuring our safety on the Baltic for years to come. "

The agents of the crown sent to appropriate the Hanseatic possessions are disappointed with the amount they receive. It seems the Hansa has declined massively over the last century, with Hamburg and Lubeck being the only profitable cities. Nevertheless, they return 5,000 to the crown.
Combined with the devastating attack on the Hanseatic fleet. Sweden may well have presided over the last days of the Hansa. With Burghers in other major Hanseatic cities, such as Cologne and Frankfurt beginning to lose all confidence in the project.
HRE gains new national modifer, Decline of the Hansa: The Hansa's decline severely affects trade in the Empire, reducing overall income. However, this decline threatens the independence of many smaller German states, making them more dependent on Austria and Brandenburg. (Replaces the Treaty of Westphalia modifier.)
