The Spanish demand that France end hostile activity against their Genoese allies. Failure to do so will result in severe repercussions, a similar letter is sent to the Spanish, French and Papal delegations in Rome.

Spain and the King are not one and the same. Spain consistently came to Genoa's defense in the 17th Century.
Also, new historiography suggests that, due to Charles' dependence on Ministers and the resulting decline of Aristocratic authority, Spain's 'regeneration' under Bourbon rule could be traced back to Charles' Reign. Probably isn't relevant to the game, just interesting.
